Prof. Dr. Marco Winzker, Vice President Studies, Teaching and Continuing Education<\/section>\n <\/section>[vc_column_text css=””]In November 2023, Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences undertook a forward-looking delegation trip to the Netherlands with the aim of gathering impetus for the planned new building on the St. Augustin campus. This new building \u2013 financed with 42 million euros by the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW \u2013 is intended to create an innovative learning and research environment by 2030.<\/p>\n

In this sense, the planned new building complex at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is not intended to be “more of the same”, but rather to create spaces that include group work areas for students, creative spaces and makerspaces, laboratories that can be used flexibly and open, attractively designed meeting zones that promote exchange.[\/vc_column_text]

Impulses from the Netherlands<\/h2>\n <\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]Dutch universities are internationally regarded as pioneers of modern learning spaces and focus on flexible room concepts, digital infrastructure and interdisciplinary learning formats. The universities in Utrecht, Delft, Wageningen and Rotterdam have realized impressive new buildings in recent years. They show how architecture, didactics and digitalization can be combined in a meaningful way: with open learning areas instead of traditional lecture halls, meeting places for social exchange and sustainable construction with a high quality of stay for students, teaching staff and all university status groups.[\/vc_column_text]

Insights and impulses from the delegation trip<\/h2>\n <\/div>[vc_column_text css=””]The delegation brought back some groundbreaking insights from the visits to Utrecht, Delft, Wageningen and Rotterdam, which are shared in the blog post and Hangout. These experiences are not only relevant for the further development of H-BRS, but also offer helpful impulses for other universities undergoing comparable change processes.[\/vc_column_text]\n \n
